•Angeline Talia is the third child in a family of four siblings. She lives with her mother and three sisters in single room sheet metal house in the slums of Kawangware.

•Ten years ago, Veronica, who is Angeline’s mother, fell very sick and was admitted to one of the public hospitals in Nairobi. During her admission to the hospital, the doctor discovered that she was HIV positive.

•After she was discharged from the hospital, her husband kicked her and her first child out of the house. It was then that Heart to Heart came in and assisted her by paying school fees for her oldest daughter. Her oldest daughter is now 20 years old and has completed a course in catering.

•Veronica has a small business in which she sells samosas (pastry’s with meat filling) along the corridors of the slums in order to sustain her family.

•Angeline likes counting and scribbling during her free time.  Giving her a chance to be in school would increase her chances of her being successful in future.
