•Barbra Shitoyi is a ten-year-old girl who lives with both of her parents and five other siblings in a one room sheet metal house in the slums of Kawangware within Nairobi County. Barbra has a twin brother and she is the second to the oldest child in her family.

•Her father is a day laborer at construction sites whenever a job opportunity becomes available. Sometimes it’s hard when there’s no work available, making it hard for him to provide for the family’s basic needs.

•Her mother suffers from arthritis in her knees, making it difficult for her to walk for a long distance. This makes employment virtually impossible since the job market is so competitive. 

•Barbra’s family has many challenges but the major ones are food, clothing and school fees for their children.

•Barbra is very bright, disciplined and extremely neat. She is requesting educational support. Giving her a chance to attend school will help her achieve her dreams of becoming a nurse in the future.
