•Khadija lives with her grandmother and mother in Kibera slums. Her parents separated nine years ago. Day by day life has become more and more challenging to the point that her mother could no longer solely provide. Paying house rent became difficult for her because it seemed like she could never earn enough to make ends meet working the temporary jobs she was able to get.  

•The grandmother and the mother pool their resources together to provide for the family but what they make is not enough to sustain them. Sometimes the meal that Khadija gets from the feeding program is the only one she will eat.  

•Khadija shows great promise in school and yearns to be the best.
