•Ferdinandos is a 13 year-old boy in the 4th grade. He lives in the Kawangware slum. He has been living with his aunt together with his two sisters. Ferdinandos and his two sisters were abandoned by their parents and if it wasn`t for their aunt who took them in, they would have been in a much worse situation.
 

•Ferdinandos` aunt has eight of her own children, which brings the total number of children in her house to eleven. The aunt is a widow who tries very hard to provide for the family by herself. She is struggles to provide for all 11 children. 
 

•It is really hard to find employment or even temporary jobs so there is never enough food to go around. They often go without and it’s not unusual to go to bed on an empty stomach.  
 

•Ferdinandos is very bright and a hardworking young man. Despite everything he and his siblings are going through, he is a very happy child. He is optimistic that he will be able to go to school like other children his age. He loves drawing at his free time. Attached is one of his drawings he drew during Kipawa Sato program.
